BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- Chuck Carlson, editor of The DRIP Investor newsletter, notes that investors looking for the glitter of gold are better off in shares of big names like Barrick Gold Corp. than in smaller, speculative stocks.Speaking during a Personal MarketWatch interview with senior columnist Chuck Jaffe, Carlson noted that speculative gold mining stocks, such as Liberty Star Gold or Centurion Gold Holdings, "can sometimes provide you with bigger gains, but you have to be very nimble and very right on your timing." During his interview with Jaffe, Carlson also highlighted several energy-sector stocks, and advised investors to look beyond the beatings that many technology stocks took when the dot-com bubble burst.

Gold Fields (News/Kurs/Chart/Board) besitzt nun Beteiligungen beziehungsweise alleinige Rechte an insgesamt zwölf Abbaugebieten.

1. Barrick Gold Corp./Placer Dome (9,11 Millionen Unzen)
2. Newmont Mining Corp. (6,43 Millionen Unzen)
3. AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. (6,17 Millionen Unzen)
4. Gold Fields Ltd. (4,2 Millionen Unzen)
5. Freeport - McMoRan Cooper & Gold Inc. (2,79 Millionen Unzen)
6. Harmony Gold Mining Co. (2,59 Millionen Unzen)
7. Cia. De Minas Buenaventura SA (1,77 Millionen Unzen)
8. Rio Tinto Plc. (1,73 Millionen Unzen)
