Open Telecommunications Limited ("OT") South American expansion is
delivering tangible results by the Company being awarded a further
contract from Embratel in Brazil.

OT has won a multi-million dollar contract to provide a further
CapacityIntegrator software licence, software development, product
customisation, and certain consulting services to Embratel. Embratel,
a member of the MCI Worldcom Group, currently uses OT's
CapacityIntegrator software for its telecommunications network
planning and provisioning. This new contract is to enhance the
functionality Embratel derives from the product.

Managing Director, Wayne Passlow, said that the contract demonstrates
OT's:

* capability to win repeat business through the company's leading
software solutions, delivery expertise and commitment to customer
 satisfaction;

* focus on international and domestic markets, and

* ability to successfully win and deliver solutions in worldwide
 markets.

"This contract is the third contract Embratel has entered into for
the CapacityIntegrator product. The first was the initial purchase of
the product and the second was the contract to provide support and
development services announced on 3 February 2000. This third
contract illustrates OT's strategy of being able to leverage off both
its existing customer relationships and depth of its intellectual
property to secure material ongoing business from its customers," Mr
Passlow said.

The new contract coincides with the opening of OT's new Brazilian
office in Rio De Janeiro. Due to the size of the Latin American
telecommunications market and potential demand for OT's products, the
company now has dedicated sales representatives and support staff in
Brazil. The Brazilian office will initially serve as the Latin
American headquarters for OT to service its current customers in
Peru, Argentina and Brazil and to exploit the potential for sales
with new customers.

"South America continues to emerge as strong market for OT and we are
experiencing strong business growth in this region. We are executing
on growth strategies that give us a greater presence in the region
which will enable the company to capitalise on the opportunities
before us. We can clearly define the benefits to the company of
increasing our resources and presence in this large market," Mr
Passlow said.

Open Telecommunications Limited ("OT") today confirmed that it has
been awarded a multi-million dollar contract to sell and integrate
its leading openCapacityIntegrator software product to Telstra
Corporation Limited ("Telstra"), Australia's largest
telecommunications carrier.

Telstra will deploy openCapacityIntegrator on its Global Transmission
Assignment System (GTAS), which is used to support the timely
delivery of wideband solutions to Telstra customers.

Telstra has sought a single solution to support the configuration,
and more efficient provisioning of network infrastructure and network
wideband services. openCapacityIntegrator was chosen by Telstra
through a Request For Tender processes being the best option to
satisfy this need.

The contract from Telstra broadly provides that OT will:

* licence its openCapacityIntegrator software to Telstra;

* undertake further software development work to tailor
 openCapacityIntegrator to Telstra's business needs;

* Integrate the software into the Telstra' Australian network
 environment; and

* provide maintenance services if and when required to the product.

The openCapacityIntegrator software allows telecommunications network
operators to use their networks' capacity more efficiently and gives
improved planning capabilities. A major benefit of the
openCapacityIntegrator software is that it allows telecommunications
carriers to provision network services more efficiently and cost
effectively for their customers by using sophisticated design/assign
algorithms.

Telstra awarded the contract to OT in preference to substantial
competition from other telecommunication software solution providers
from Europe, the United States and Australia.

Open Telecommunications Managing Director, Wayne Passlow said, "We
are delighted to renew our business relationship with Telstra and
look forward to supporting both Telstra's domestic and international
growth and quality objectives. The contract award from Telstra is
further evidence of OT's growing reputation as a world leader in
tier-1 carrier grade telecommunications solution development, and
highlights the need for open, standard-based software solutions such
as ours."

According to Leigh Vinton from Telstra, "OT's openCapacityIntegrator
will help Telstra offer faster wideband network services provisioning
and ensure that network capacity and coverage keeps pace with growing
customer demand. This is vitally important in Australia's
competitive, deregulated marketplace."

openCapacityIntegrator provides telecommunications network operators
with the capability to process short-to-medium term planning, design
and overall provisioning of their networks. It supports the ongoing
business processes of operations planning, network design and
provisioning of infrastructure and services in telecommunications
networks. Other major telecommunications companies using
openCapacityIntegrator include Libertel in the Netherlands, Embratel
in Brazil and Cable & Wireless Optus in Australia.

OPEN TELECOMMUNICATIONS LIMITED               2000-08-04  ASX-SIGNAL-G

HOMEX - Sydney

+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Open Telecommunications Limited's ("OT") recent diversification into
the wireless telecommunications segment has delivered early results,
with the company being awarded a major contract to license and
integrate OT's wireless telecommunications software product to
Thomson-CSF Racal Electronics (Thomson-CSF Racal), in the United
Kingdom.

OT's Wireless Solutions Division develops core wireless software
technology that is used in mobile network infrastructure and mobile
phones.

Thomson-CSF Racal is a global leader in defence and industrial
electronics, supplying solutions and systems to both commercial and
government customers. The company has a prestigious
telecommunications background, including the creation of Racal-
Vodafone, operators of Britain's first commercial cellular service,
which was later spun off as Vodafone Group plc.

The licensed software will be integrated into Thomson-CSF Racal's
Vector product, the world's smallest and lightest secure TETRA radio.

Managing Director, Wayne Passlow, said that the contract demonstrates
OT's:

* ability to win significant telecommunications contracts in Europe
and the rest of the world;

* capability in leading edge wireless telecommunications technology,
and

* breadth and depth of telecommunications product range available to
telco operators and manufacturers today.

"This contract represents the first sale of our wireless software
technology to a major European manufacturer. The order has
significant strategic value in demonstrating to the main equipment
manufacturers that OT has the ability to develop world class wireless
software protocol products, as the world moves towards 3G solutions.
OT is well placed to catch the wireless wave from 2G to 3G as
equipment manufacturers and telcos try to supply market demand,"
Mr Passlow said today.

OT's Wireless Solutions Division develops a broad range of software
products, including air interface signalling protocols for base
stations and mobiles, core network infrastructure software and value
added service applications in the WAP, GPRS & 3G markets.
